ERP Functional Consultant - Manufacturing Sector

In this position, you will be responsible for planning, designing, developing, and implementing effective information systems and operational frameworks that support essential organizational functions. Utilizing both business acumen and technical expertise, you will collaborate directly with clients to ascertain business requirements with the necessary detail and clarity to facilitate the development of technical solutions. Your proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills will be essential in identifying, articulating, and resolving system-related issues to maximize the value of IT system investments. Furthermore, you will work closely with the sales team to cultivate and finalize service projects while maintaining customer relationships to ensure satisfaction and seamless ongoing support.

Key Responsibilities

Project Delivery and Management

  • Conduct thorough analyses of client business processes and functional needs.
  • Prepare comprehensive documentation to effectively communicate and validate information.
  • Evaluate existing application products and recommend efficient, cost-effective solutions that align with client business processes and functional requirements.
  • Document functional specifications, workflows, and system requirements.
  • Familiarize yourself with the functionalities of key client systems to identify integration points and provide recommendations.
  • Ensure timely delivery of all projects within a defined scope; manage project costs to stay within budget while exceeding customer expectations.
  • Guarantee that project deliverables meet or surpass client expectations.
  • Engage with clients throughout system testing and product acceptance phases to ensure quality and satisfaction.
  • Assist the sales team with business opportunities by supporting estimate and proposal generation, conducting demonstrations, and responding to customer pre-sales inquiries as necessary.
  • Manage and nurture relationships with existing clients, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, generating reports, performing upgrades, and ensuring overall client satisfaction with both the software and the company.
  • Promote value-based billing and efficiency in service delivery.

Expertise in Functional Products

  • Develop in-depth knowledge of Sage products and serve as a key resource for implementation challenges.
  • Utilize technical and business insights to analyze client requirements and align them with system capabilities.
  • Conduct gap analyses, identify options, and recommend optimal methods to address gaps, including customization, third-party products, process modifications, and industry best practices.
  • Complete necessary training and development regarding product versions, updates, and changes within designated timelines.

Industry Knowledge and Best Practices

  • Continuously develop technical and industry-specific knowledge while staying informed about industry trends and the latest technological solutions.

Knowledge Sharing with Team and Clients

  • Collaborate with peers and managers to share insights, raise critical issues, and propose process enhancements.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and client satisfaction.
  • Proactively seek opportunities to engage in client interactions to share knowledge and ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, quality assurance, or equivalent work experience is required.
  • An advanced degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Sage ERP implementation or similar ERP solutions (Epicor, Infor, Syspro, Chempax, Workday, ProcessPRO, MS Dynamics).
  • Experience implementing ERP solutions within the Distribution Manufacturing sector, including familiarity with Bills of Materials, scheduling, shipping, and EDI integrations.
  • A consulting background with a proven track record of delivering complex software solutions within defined timelines and budgets.
  • Strong business acumen, a clear understanding of business needs, and the ability to ensure that technical solutions deliver business and customer value.
  • Experience translating business requirements into solution specifications.
  • Proven ability to lead requirements definition and design sessions through interviews, surveys, user workshops, and product demonstrations.
  • A successful history of achieving agreed-upon business objectives and performance metrics.
  • Ability to effectively document business and technical designs.
  • Capacity to prioritize and execute tasks efficiently in a high-pressure environment.
  • Experience working in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and manage a strategic external industry network.

This role is remote and will require occasional travel to client locations.
