The Technical Support Assistant will provide exceptional customer service and technical support to end-users in the PLV Campus Computer Resource Center, ITS Helpdesk, and 311 Call Centers. This role involves performing various office and administrative functions to maintain computer lab/classroom operations and related equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide professional and courteous customer service to all lab users
  • Answer phones, greet visitors, and take detailed messages for staff follow-up as needed
  • Assist users with Pace account activation, password resets, and Duo multifactor authentication
  • Help troubleshoot issues with Pace systems, hardware, and software
  • Use remote support tools to troubleshoot issues for on-campus and off-campus users
  • Perform virus scans and virus removal using free and licensed tools
  • Help create and maintain technical and self-help documentation
  • Enter Help Desk tickets for walk-ins with computer issues
  • Restock printers with toner and paper, and remove paper jams as needed
  • Open and close computer classrooms for faculty and staff
  • Maintain department areas and supported lab/classrooms clean and organized
  • Perform miscellaneous clerical duties and provide administrative support

Requirements

Students must possess general computing skills, basic troubleshooting methodology, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Windows operating system, strong communication and customer service skills, and the ability to act efficiently in a busy work environment. Knowledge of Apple/Mac products is a plus. Students must also display strong leadership skills and dependability, as well as the ability to make independent decisions to resolve user or student worker issues while maintaining department policies.
