Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Dairy Specialist to join our team. As a Dairy Specialist, you will be responsible for generating profitable sales in the assigned territory through target marketing, competitive analysis, and providing value-added feed products, services, and recommendations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement marketing plans and sales strategies that generate profitable sales in the assigned territory.
- Utilize target marketing and professional sales techniques, including the FS sales interview road map, feed management programs, emphasis of appropriate features and benefits, and contact management system when calling on patrons and prospects.
- Develop territory and competitive analysis to maintain a current knowledge of the marketplace and the competition.
- Provide value-added feed products, services, and recommendations to patrons and prospects.
- Schedule product delivery to customer locations, make deliveries as needed, and assist with coordination of feed mills, inventories, and routes.
- Conduct regular patron meetings on product and technical information.
- Provide customer service by following up on customer complaints and seeking a reasonable "win/win" resolution.
- Ensure the credit worthiness of customers, quote prices and credit terms, and prepare sales contracts for orders obtained.
- Promote the use of credit programs as a sales tool and help provide the required information to establish credit. Work closely with the credit department in collection of accounts receivable.
Requirements
- Normally requires a college degree in agriculture, marketing, or other business-related discipline, or the equivalent thereof, and at least 2 years of sales/marketing experience to demonstrate the ability to generate profitable sales in the assigned territory.
- Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making, and skill development.
- Normally requires an Enterprise Specialist certification or the ability to obtain/maintain one to demonstrate advanced feed sales training and experience.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
- Must have the ability to travel independently and overnight as needed.
- Occasionally required to lift 51-70 lbs.
- Must be able to work hours beyond those considered "normal".
- Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK's policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
