Job Summary:
The Independent Living Specialist will assist consumers in developing, maintaining, and improving their community living skills. This role requires a strong focus on promoting individual success, independence, and respect.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide weekly one-on-one support to consumers, assisting with activities of daily living.
2. Help consumers develop healthy lifestyle habits and engage with their communities.
3. Demonstrate creative problem-solving skills to help consumers achieve their personal goals and overcome life's challenges.
4. Assist consumers in accessing and navigating community resources.
Companion Responsibilities:
1. Accompany consumers on outings within the community.
2. Serve as an advocate for consumers with their service providers.
3. Provide ongoing training and encouragement to consumers in making healthy and responsible life choices.
4. Offer individualized support to consumers in living independently in the community.
Qualifications:
The Independent Living Specialist must meet the following qualifications:
A. High School Diploma
B. Valid Driver's License
C. Up-to-date Auto Insurance
D. Maintain an acceptable motor vehicle report
E. Previous work experience providing services to individuals with developmental disabilities (preferred but not required)
