About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Billing Manager to join our finance team at a prestigious global law firm headquartered in Chicago. This role is pivotal in ensuring the seamless operation of the billing department, which is crucial for the firm's financial health and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the daily activities and operations of the billing staff, including workload balancing and lawyer assignments.
  • Resolve any problems or issues as needed to ensure the smooth operation of the billing department.
  • Ensure accurate and efficient preparation of client invoices, following up with the Billing Partners and/or their delegates to resolve client billing issues and ensure invoices are approved and billed.
  • Implement and maintain billing procedures that ensure compliance with the firm's policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with the firm's attorneys and other stakeholders to ensure that all billing-related matters are addressed promptly and accurately.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to the billing team, fostering an environment of collaboration and high performance.
  • Monitor and analyze billing metrics, providing regular reports to senior management on performance and areas for improvement.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in a role with significant operational and supervisory responsibilities.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with Elite 3E, Thompson Reuters Elite, and eBilling Hub electronic billing.
  • Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of managing a high-performing team.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to resolving issues and challenges.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
