Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled News Producer to join our team at NBCUniversal. As a key member of our newsroom, you will be responsible for creating engaging and informative live newscasts and special news programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the production of live newscasts, ensuring accuracy, content, and overall quality.
  • Collaborate with assignment editors, anchors, MMJs, editors, and production crews to bring the news to life.
  • Develop a deep understanding of our audience, mission, and station priorities to integrate all station platforms in showcasing the news production.
  • Work closely with the Executive Producer on special projects and news coverages, staying informed on daily news events and past news events.
  • Craft compelling content using excellent writing skills and a unique vision.
  • Plan, supervise, and execute Live Shots and Live Remotes during live newscasts.
  • Select, assign, write, and organize news stories, write headlines, teases, and reporter/anchor lead-ins.
  • Respond to breaking news with urgency and accuracy, coordinating and planning future coverages.
  • Work with Video Journalists on their visual and written storytelling and presentation.
  • Write news scripts, promotional teasers, headlines, and daily news briefs.
  • Contribute story ideas, participate in daily coverage decisions, and editorial meetings.
Leadership
  • Take responsibility for own actions and be a team player, leading the team to produce innovative, flawless, creative, and interesting newscasts.
  • Communicate clear directions and changes to all newscasts' team members.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Understand and follow all NBCUniversal News standards and ethics.
