Position Overview:
As an Anesthesia Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in assisting anesthesia professionals by managing equipment, supplies, and operations necessary for effective anesthesia care.

Essential Knowledge and Skills:
Candidates must possess specialized knowledge and skills essential for fulfilling the responsibilities of this role. A background in technical or vocational training is preferred.

Educational Requirements:
A successful completion of high school or GED is required, with additional technical training being advantageous.

Experience:
Ideal candidates will have 2 to 4 years of experience in a hospital or healthcare setting related to the Anesthesia Technician role, with operating room experience being a plus.

Required Skills and Knowledge:
Familiarity with regulatory standards, infection control, and the maintenance of technical equipment is essential. Strong communication and organizational skills are necessary, along with basic mechanical aptitude. BLS certification is mandatory.

Licenses & Certifications:
It is recommended to obtain ASAII Certification within three years of employment.

Direct Patient Care Responsibilities:
1. **Anesthetic Equipment Setup:**
- Prepare anesthetic gas machines and ensure they are ready for use by the anesthesia care team.

2. **Nitric Oxide Delivery System:**
- Assemble and assist with the nitric oxide delivery system as directed.

3. **Airway Management:**
- Ensure necessary equipment is available for patients receiving anesthesia.

4. **Cardiac Room Support:**
- Assist with the setup and usage of specialized equipment in cardiac procedures.

5. **Joint and Spine Procedures:**
- Prepare and assist with intravenous anesthesia and monitoring equipment.

6. **Ultrasound and Video Equipment:**
- Assemble and assist with ultrasound and video laryngoscopy equipment as needed.

7. **Emergency Preparedness:**
- Be ready to assist in emergency situations, including patient transport and emergency line placements.

General Duties:
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of anesthesia equipment.
- Document daily activities and report any equipment issues.
- Follow strict infection control and safety protocols.
- Organize and manage supplies within the department.

Non-Patient Care Duties:
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of equipment and work areas.
- Participate in special projects as assigned by the department director.

In this role, you will be integral to the anesthesia care team, ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and care are met.
