Job Summary

The Medical Respite Program Operations Director is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Carroll Respite Center, leading a diverse team in providing high-quality medical respite recuperative care and sober support services.

This role is an essential part of the integrated care team at Access Carroll and LifeBridge Health, serving homeless, vulnerable, and at-risk residents of northern central Maryland.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of clinical support staff, including case management, respite assistants, peer recovery support, security, transportation, and dietary services.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, and train staff as growth or vacancy occurs.
  • Conduct regular performance management duties, including one-on-one updates with staff, team meetings, coaching, new hire evaluations, and performance improvement plans.
  • Maintain work schedules for assigned staff, adhering to approved budgetary guidelines and minimizing overtime and premium labor.
  • Oversee timecard preparation, submission, and approval for assigned staff, ensuring financial stewardship through effective inventory management and purchase of medical supplies.
  • Supervise the day-to-day flow of the respite center, ensuring timely completion of tasks and duties by assigned staff.
  • Participate in direct patient-guest services, including triage, assessments, clinical evaluations, and related care per licensure.
  • Perform accurate, timely, legal, and ethical documentation.
  • Maintain relevant education and training to support clinical services.
  • Participate in process improvement workgroups to identify areas of opportunity and implement sustainable change.
  • Oversee scheduling and flow for admissions and discharges.
  • Cultivate internal and external community partnerships that align with program services and goals.
  • Respond to integrated team requests to investigate and solve problematic operational areas.
  • Prepare and distribute reports and statistical data as requested by the Executive Director.
  • Act as a champion for organizational goals related to the Respite Center, including patient, employee, and financial outcomes.
  • Partner with leadership to implement schedules and curriculum for initial and ongoing staff training and development.
  • Demonstrate and lead change, adhering to organizational guidelines and SPIRIT core values.

Requirements

  • Current Maryland Licensure as RN from accredited institution.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association and Naloxone Administration.
  • 4 years of experience in a medical environment.
  • Minimum 3 years of leadership or supervisory experience in a relevant field.
  • Emergency or Behavioral Health/Substance Recovery experience is a plus.
  • Proficient in technology use, typing, and data entry, with ability to quickly learn relevant systems.
  • Strong mastery of English language reading, writing, and speaking abilities.
  • Spanish bilingual is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, including service recovery, conflict resolution, and de-escalation abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and interact positively with patients, visitors, staff, and clinicians.
  • Requires a current Maryland state driver's license.

Salary

$44.56-$69.07 hourly rate, based on experience.
