About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Precertification Coordinator to join our team at Stamford Health. As a key member of our revenue cycle department, you will play a critical role in ensuring seamless patient care and efficient financial operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits for scheduled procedures, surgeries, and diagnostic services.
  • Initiate and complete precertification/authorization processes with insurance companies, ensuring timely and accurate communication.
  • Coordinate with physicians, patients, and insurance carriers to obtain necessary documentation and approvals.
  • Track and follow up on open precertification/authorization requests, providing additional information as needed.
  • Notify physicians and staff of service approvals or denials, and coordinate appeals as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of all activities related to precertification/authorization processes.
  • Collaborate with the surgical scheduler to ensure cohesive communication and coordination for scheduled procedures.
Requirements
  • High School diploma required; Associate's degree preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in insurance verification, pre-certification/pre-authorization, medical billing, or related healthcare field.
  • Competency with electronic medical records, computer software, and internet-based systems.
  • Knowledge of medical office operations, coding, billing, and third-party insurance processes.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
