Job Summary

Evaluate and implement comprehensive athletic training programs to restore function, prevent disability, and enhance athlete performance. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide cohesive care and participate in ongoing education to stay current with best practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate athletes and sports-related injuries, design and implement rehabilitation and reconditioning programs, and establish care plans to address individual needs.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, referral sources, and clinical staff to coordinate athlete care and schedule.
  • Document evaluations, progress reports, treatment notes, and outcomes to ensure accurate and comprehensive records.
  • Re-evaluate athletes as needed, modifying goals and treatment plans to address changing needs and progress.
  • Apply strapping, bandaging, or bracing to prevent or protect athletes from injury and utilize assistive devices as necessary.
  • Provide education to athletes and families regarding deficits, progress, and therapeutic techniques, with individualized instruction for home programs.
  • Assist with orienting new staff and direct and supervise activities of athletic training students and volunteers involved in administering care to athletes.
  • Provide cross-coverage as needed throughout Atrium Health facilities and on-site athletic training coverage at sporting events.
Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training from an accredited program required. Successful completion of the Certification Examination through the National Council for Athletic Training required. Licensed in NC or SC as an Athletic Trainer required. BLS certification required per policy guidelines.
