Job Summary:

Atrium Health is seeking a highly skilled Athletic Trainer to join our Sports Medicine team. As an Athletic Trainer, you will play a critical role in evaluating, planning, directing, and administering programs of athletic training to restore function, prevent disability, and help athletes reach their maximum level of independence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate athletes and sports-related injuries, design and implement athletic training programs for rehabilitation and reconditioning, and establish care plans to include necessary activities and athlete education.
  • Gather and interpret data from medical records, physicians, athletes, and families, and communicate evaluation and progress to physicians, referral sources, and other clinical staff.
  • Document evaluations, tests, progress reports, daily treatment notes, attendance records, athlete/family education, outcomes, discharge notes, and changes as needed.
  • Re-evaluate athletes as needed, modifying goals and treatment as the athlete's status changes.
  • Apply strapping, bandaging, or bracing to prevent or protect athletes from injury, and identify the need for and utilize appropriate assistive devices.
  • Provide and document athlete and family education in regard to deficits, progress toward goals, and therapeutic techniques, with individualized instruction for a home program.
  • Assist with orienting new staff and direct and supervise activities of athletic training students and volunteers involved in administering care to athletes.
  • Provide cross-coverage as needed throughout Atrium Health facilities and on-site athletic training coverage at sporting events.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training (AT) from an accredited AT education program.
  • Successful completion of the Certification Examination through the National Council for AT.
  • Licensed in NC or SC as an AT.
  • BLS required per policy guidelines.

Work Environment:

The work environment is primarily indoors but occasionally outdoors. The work is in a fast-paced clinical environment, and the job duties sometimes require climbing stairs, kneeling, twisting, bending, and on occasion, crouching, crawling, and reaching overhead.
