Development Lead

About the Role
We are seeking a seasoned Development Lead to spearhead our strategic fundraising efforts and drive growth for our organization.
Responsibilities:
- Fundraising Strategy Execution: Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising plans to achieve annual goals, including securing $1M in donations.
- Leadership Collaboration: Work closely with the CEO to set fundraising priorities and initiatives, aligning with organizational objectives.
- Development Materials Preparation: Create high-quality development materials for board members and CEO meetings, as well as pitches to potential donors.
- Grant Proposal Review: Provide feedback on grant proposals, reports, and donor-facing communications to ensure excellence.
- Funder Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing donors, funding entities, and corporations.
- Prospect Identification: Identify potential individual, corporate, and foundation donors, developing strategies to cultivate those relationships.
- Collateral Creation: Design and produce relevant, informative collateral for distribution to donors and the public.
- Research and Grant Applications: Research potential sources of grants and apply for funding, staying up-to-date with philanthropy trends in the NY metropolitan region and nationally.
- Fundraising Process Oversight: Manage the fundraising process, maintaining accurate records of receipts and disbursements.
- Event Planning: Organize fundraising events that effectively communicate our mission and values.
- Additional Duties: Perform other related tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications and Requirements
We seek an experienced professional with:
- Nonprofit Fundraising Experience: At least 5 years of nonprofit fundraising experience, preferably in a leadership role.
- Education: A Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution.
- Laboratory Charter School Ethos: A deep understanding of our school's ethos, priorities, and commitment to academic excellence.
- Strategic Leadership: Proven ability to lead in a way that reflects our values and beliefs.
- Knowledge of Fundraising Principles: Extensive knowledge of fundraising strategies, principles, and best practices.
- Excellent Communication Skills: Strong written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to adapt to diverse audiences.
- Charitable Giving Expertise: Knowledge of charitable giving, including relationships with funders and donors in the education community.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Ability to evaluate results, analyze data, and drive decision-making.
- Time Management and Delegation: Effective time management and delegation skills, prioritizing efforts according to organizational goals.
- Contingency Planning: Proactive development of contingency plans for potential or unforeseen circumstances.
- Decision-Making and Authority: Ability to make informed decisions, delegate authority, and promote effective practices within the team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Compensation and Benefits
We offer a competitive salary range of $100,000 - $125,000, commensurate with experience and education. Our benefits package includes:
