Description

At Options Counseling and Family Services, we are committed to supporting the health, safety, equity, and well-being of our clients, families, employees, and communities. We are seeking a qualified Mental Health Therapist to join our team.

Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and family therapy to children and their families in an office setting.
  • Conduct mental health assessments for children, including DSM-V diagnosis.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans, defining specific goals and objectives, and revise as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and current client records, including timely Service Plans, authorization requests, and service notes within the electronic client record (ECR).
  • Coordinate access and provision of services from multiple agencies, including establishing service linkages, advocating for service needs, and obtaining entitlements based on mental or emotional disability.
  • Refer client to supportive services to supplement treatment and counseling as appropriate.
  • Make requests for authorization for services to the local Coordinated Care Organization (CCO) as required.
  • Coordinate with ODHS and the local CCO regarding referrals as directed.
Requirements
  • Masters or doctorate degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or related field.
  • Must be able to qualify as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) and be eligible for registration as an associate (Social Work Associate, Professional Counselor Associate, Marriage and Family Associate), a Psychology Resident or licensure in the State of Oregon.
  • Knowledge and/or experience providing mental health services, including assessment and diagnosis, to children and families.
  • Ability to incorporate child-based therapies into treatment is required, including comfort with treatment for toddlers through school-age children.
  • Must be computer proficient.
  • Must have respectful, open, accepting attitude toward clients and their families.
  • Must be able to pass a ODHS background check.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in play therapy, sand tray, or other child-based therapies.
  • Knowledge of the impact of trauma and experience working with individuals and families from a systemic lens.
  • Strong understanding of evidence-based practice and the role of feedback informed treatment.
  • Experience with record keeping software preferred.
Working Conditions

Extended periods of time sitting or standing at workstation updating client records, phone work, and therapy sessions.

Mobility and dexterity sufficient to assist clients and handle required job related functions and move about the facility.

Ability to manage clients who may use offensive language or challenging behaviors.

May be required to work afternoons or some evenings.
