Cardiology Cath Lab RN

Overview:

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering professional nursing care aimed at ensuring the comfort and health of patients. The RN prepares necessary equipment and assists physicians during examinations and treatments. Responsibilities include administering prescribed medications, changing dressings, cleaning wounds, and monitoring vital signs. The RN observes and maintains comprehensive records on patient care, conditions, reactions, and progress. The RN plays a crucial role as a primary nurse, associate nurse, team member, or team leader in the planning and execution of patient care. Additionally, the RN directs and aids in the implementation of safe aseptic techniques and procedures, providing leadership and guidance to all support staff within the department.

About the Cardiac Cath Lab:

The Cardiac Cath Lab features six angiographic suites, including one dedicated to Electrophysiology Procedures (EP), along with a Hybrid OR suite. Annually, we conduct approximately 4,000 diagnostic and 900 interventional cardiology and peripheral procedures. Our range of procedures includes Right/Left Heart Catheterizations, percutaneous coronary/peripheral interventions, AAA stent repairs, Transcutaneous Aortic Valve Repair (TAVR), EP Ablations, and pacemaker/ICD implants. We are proud members of the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care, achieving door-to-balloon times of 60 minutes. Our team boasts a combined experience level exceeding 200 years.

Facility Overview:

CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi-Shoreline is recognized as the largest and leading acute care medical facility in the region, offering a comprehensive array of diagnostic and surgical specialty services in cardiac, cancer, and stroke care. It serves as the primary emergency facility in the area and is the only Level II Trauma Center in the Coastal Bend, staffed with specially trained physicians and nurses in emergency services.

  • The Pavilion and the Critical Care Center include a state-of-the-art Emergency Department, ICU, Cardiac Cath Lab, and surgical suites.
  • Affiliated with the Texas A&M University System Health Science Center College of Medicine as a teaching facility.
  • Accredited Chest Pain Center.
  • Accredited Joint Commission Stroke Team.

The Shoreline campus is a premier facility that houses many of the region's most essential and esteemed programs, including a Primary Stroke Center, a nationally accredited Cancer Center, and a nationally recognized Chest Pain Center. The Pavilion at CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi-Shoreline is home to the CHRISTUS Spohn Heart Network, recently acknowledged as one of the top 100 cardiovascular hospitals in the United States. The Heart Institute provides the most advanced diagnostic, surgical, and rehabilitative cardiac services in one convenient location.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program with the ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care.
  • Preferred one year of nursing experience.
  • Current Texas State RN License.
  • CPR certification (American Heart Association).
  • ACLS certification required within six months of hire/transfer date.
  • EKG certification required within 90 days of hire/transfer date.
