Position Overview:
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care to ensure the comfort and well-being of patients. The RN prepares necessary equipment and assists physicians during examinations and treatments. Responsibilities include administering prescribed medications, changing dressings, cleaning wounds, and monitoring vital signs of patients. The RN also observes and maintains comprehensive records on patient care, conditions, reactions, and progress.
The RN plays a vital role as a primary nurse, associate nurse, team member, or team leader in the planning and execution of patient care. This role involves directing and assisting in the implementation of safe aseptic techniques and procedures. The RN provides leadership and guidance to all support staff within the department.
Unit Overview:
A6 is a dynamic 27-bed unit specializing in the care of cardiac patients who have undergone various interventions, including stent placements, pacemaker placements, and diagnostic angiograms. We also provide care for patients who have opted for Watchman and Mitraclip procedures. Our team manages patients with conditions such as congestive heart failure, NSTEMI, STEMI, pre-CABG, and peripheral vascular occlusions. The unit is equipped to handle patients on cardiac drips and medical-surgical overflow from the emergency room. Our team has established a strong collaborative relationship with cardiologists and hospitalists, known for delivering exceptional patient care and outstanding customer service.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program with the ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care.
- Preferred one year of nursing experience.
- Current Texas State RN License.
- CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
- ACLS certification required within six months of hire or transfer.
- EKG certification required within 90 days of hire or transfer.
