Family Support Counselor Job Description

Kids in Distress is a leading organization dedicated to supporting children and families in crisis. We are currently seeking a highly skilled Family Support Counselor to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting assessments of families in crisis, developing service plans, and providing counseling and support services.

About the Position:
  • This is a full-time position, requiring a strong commitment to supporting families in crisis.
  • You will be working directly with families, assessing their needs, and developing personalized service plans.
  • As a Family Support Counselor, you will provide counseling and support services, connecting families with community resources and promoting self-sufficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough assessments of families in crisis, identifying strengths, weaknesses, and areas of need.
  • Develop comprehensive service plans tailored to each family's unique circumstances.
  • Provide individualized counseling and support services, helping families build resilience and achieve stability.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work or a related field.
  • At least two years of experience working with children and families, demonstrating a strong understanding of family dynamics and crisis intervention strategies.
  • A valid driver's license with no restrictions, good driving record, vehicle in good working condition, and automobile liability insurance that meets minimum agency requirements.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Strong communication skills, empathy, cultural competence, and the ability to work effectively in a team setting are crucial to successfully support families in crisis and make a positive impact on their lives.
