Job Overview:
Cayuga Centers is a leading non-profit human services agency dedicated to family support and preservation, trauma-informed care, and serving vulnerable populations. We are seeking an experienced Prevention Counselor to join our team in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

About the Role:
The successful candidate will provide substance abuse prevention education to children and youth in designated Broward schools/areas under the direction of the Program Manager. This role requires building resistance and social competency skills to change attitudes/behaviors, prevent and reduce substance use, and promote healthy behaviors.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide a variety of fun and engaging activities to help youth build skills and develop resiliency, including group discussions and structured activities.
  • Complete ongoing and daily documentation, including but not limited to, prevention activity logs, fidelity checklists, and attendance sheets.
  • Collect and gather evaluation data for program outcomes.
  • File documentation in assigned charts on a weekly basis.
  • Attend community meetings and conduct outreach activities, as needed.
  • Participate in ongoing substance abuse training required by the grant, and complete all agency-required training within the designated deadlines.
  • Attend supervision with the Program Manager on a weekly basis.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related human services field - required.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and schedule workload effectively and efficiently.
  • Excellent ability to work directly with the public and out in the community.
  • Direct contact with clients required.
