We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Veterinary Technician to join our team at the University of Pittsburgh. As a Veterinary Technician, you will play a critical role in providing laboratory animal care and research support, ensuring the well-being of animals, and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Assist veterinarians and researchers with laboratory animal care and research procedures
- Monitor animal health and welfare, and report any concerns to veterinarians or researchers
- Perform veterinary technical procedures, such as administering medications and collecting biological samples
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of animal care and research activities
- Order and maintain supply inventory, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
- Previous experience in laboratory animal care or research support preferred
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and stand for extended periods
The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced laboratory animal care environment, with frequent exposure to animals, chemicals, and other hazards.
