Job Title: Assistant Professor of Practice

Join the Texas Tech University team as an Assistant Professor of Practice in Personal Financial Planning. This is a full-time, 9-month position that offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the university's mission through teaching, mentoring, and community engagement.

About the Position

This position is part of the School of Financial Planning in the College of Health and Human Sciences. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in personal financial planning, as well as mentoring students in professional and career preparation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach a minimum of one class per semester in undergraduate or graduate courses in personal financial planning.
  • Mentor students in professional and career preparation.
  • Develop and implement outreach initiatives for the Center for Financial Responsibility.
  • Supervise the collection and upkeep of records for the Center for Financial Responsibility.
  • Collaborate with the School to efficiently administer state-allocated funds.
  • Create research and outreach opportunities for faculty, staff, and students.
  • Facilitate and support the grant writing process for faculty and Ph.D. students.
  • Identify and pursue funding sources to achieve the Center for Financial Responsibility's goals.
  • Engage in community partner relationship building and recruitment.
Requirements
  • Master's, Ph.D., J.D., or Ed.D. degree in Personal Financial Planning, Public Administration, Educational Leadership, Management, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Consumer/Family Economics, Law, or an appropriate field.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining strong relationships with industry partners, alumni, and other stakeholders.
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness as the instructor of record.
  • Evidence of student or professional mentorship.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Active or progress towards professional certification relevant to personal finance and financial planning.
  • Federal and corporate grant writing and grant management experience.
  • Experience teaching courses specifically in a CFP Board-registered education program or AFC approved curriculum track.
  • Evidence of leadership and administrative experience in higher education.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
