Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our team as a Business Tax Collections Agent. As a key member of our revenue team, you will be responsible for managing a caseload of delinquent accounts and providing exceptional customer service to taxpayers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of delinquent accounts and provide timely follow-up with taxpayers to resolve issues.
  • Answer complex taxpayer questions regarding Nebraska tax program regulations, statutes, forms, and processing procedures.
  • Assist taxpayers in preparing tax returns and payment of taxes by phone, email, and personal contact.
  • Initiate additional action to resolve delinquencies, including payment plans, tax liens, and permit/license revocations.
  • Prepare supporting materials for license revocation or protested assessment hearings and testify for the State at the hearing.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • An Associate's Degree in business or two years of experience with tax return preparation, business ownership and operation, account research and analysis, or interpretation and application of policies, laws, rules or regulations.
  • Knowledge of processes and procedures for tax collection, mathematics and accounting, business operations and practices, and resources available for researching tax laws, rules and regulations.
  • Skills in verbal/written communication, negotiation, active listening, emotional intelligence, reading comprehension, time management, personal management, critical thinking, data entry, computer use and databases, asset discovery, and skip tracing.
