Job Overview

We're seeking an experienced Pet Product Development Manager to lead our sourcing, product development, and production efforts. As the ideal candidate, you'll build strong relationships with our existing domestic and international factory network, while continuing to source new partners to deliver our best-in-class products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own all phases of the product lifecycle from development to delivery, including technical development, sourcing, sampling, production, and quality control.
  • Establish a product development roadmap that accelerates pace, reduces costs, mitigates supply-chain risks, and improves quality.
  • Develop a comprehensive sourcing strategy, evaluating current suppliers and sourcing new ones.
  • Partner with Design and Merchandising to deliver styles meeting our aesthetic and quality standards.
  • Develop a manufacturing plan ensuring production capabilities align with our sales plan.
  • Optimize cost of goods and drive margin targets through collaboration with Design, Merchandising, and Planning.
  • Manage vendor timelines and actions for on-time, accurate delivery.
  • Build a robust and scalable QC program with vendors.
  • Travel internationally as needed to establish and maintain vendor relationships, train factories on standards, and troubleshoot issues.
  • Lead our production team to develop new products, improve existing ones, and enhance packaging for timely, budget-friendly results.
Requirements
  • 10-15+ years of experience in Product Development, Production, and Sourcing with leadership experience in these roles.
  • Strong experience managing factory relationships with overseas suppliers; familiarity with domestic and overseas production is a plus.
  • Raw material sourcing and finished goods manufacturing expertise in home, gifts, soft goods, and/or accessories, with pet goods experience a plus.
  • Experience developing QC/QA strategies and building processes to measure QC success.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with project management expertise and ability to prioritize tasks across multiple timelines.
  • A passion for people management, talent development, collaboration, and transparency.
  • Impeccable attention to detail, with a strong grasp of The Foggy Dog's brand standards and aesthetics.
  • Strategic thinking with proven ability to execute and build scalable processes and systems.
  • Familiarity with import and export industry terminology, documentation processes, and procedures.
  • Able to travel internationally and domestically as needed.
