Job Title: Coding Education Manager

University of Washington is seeking a highly skilled Coding Education Manager to join our team. As a key member of our Enterprise Records and Health Information department, you will be responsible for managing the daily activities of our coding content-related responsibilities, responding to coding questions and inquiries, and serving as a content expert developing and delivering ad hoc training.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the daily activities of coding content-related responsibilities, including responding to coding questions and inquiries.
  • Serve as a content expert developing and delivering ad hoc training.
  • Perform coding audits, analyze results, and create audit reports.
  • Provide education and training on the results of internal audits and partner with Compliance on external audit education.
  • Review DRG and CPT claim denials for commercial payers and maintain written documentation of actions, activities, or assessments in accordance with state and federal law and institutional policies.
  • Provide expert coding content knowledge to UW Medicine staff and other key stakeholders.
  • Evaluate billing/coding/documentation behavior and identify recommendations for improvement.
  • Provide consultation and best practice guidance to engage and influence outcomes.
  • Monitor developments in related rules, regulations, and coding changes and make recommendations to the Director as needed to maintain coding compliance/quality and mitigate risk.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a Health Sciences discipline, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years increasingly responsible related experience, including coding auditing, analysis, education, and training.
  • Coding and documentation expertise in either inpatient or outpatient facility coding.
  • Current coding certification of a minimum of one of the following credentials: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, CIC, COC, CIRCC, RCC.
