Position Overview

The Finance Operations Manager will play a pivotal role within the accounting division, offering strategic insights to upper management aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, business performance, and overall profitability.

Key Responsibilities

The Finance Operations Manager will oversee the daily functions of the accounting division, which includes the management of Accounts Payable and Receivable teams. The primary focus will be on maintaining precise financial records and ensuring adherence to GAAP standards.

  • Engage actively in the daily management of the accounting division, collaborating with business leaders to develop a comprehensive understanding of operations and identifying critical financial metrics to address challenges and seize opportunities.
  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic, capable of both teamwork and independent contributions.
  • Ensure compliance with the company's Code of Conduct and policies.
  • Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with GAAP.
  • Supervise the accounting team and facilitate cross-training to ensure operational continuity.
  • Assist senior management with budget preparation and financial forecasting, providing variance analysis.
  • Conduct reconciliations for credit cards, balance sheets, and bank accounts.
  • Manage fixed asset accounting, including cost analysis and depreciation schedules.
  • Oversee intercompany transactions and ensure accurate debt accounting.
  • Collaborate with external auditors to ensure proper accounting practices are followed during acquisitions.
  • Support cash flow forecasting efforts.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of transaction processing and its reflection in the general ledger.
  • Stay informed about GAAP changes and implement necessary adjustments.
  • Assist with annual external audits and liaise with external professionals.
  • Foster strong communication with plant and district managers regarding financial reporting.
  • Uphold integrity and ethical standards, establishing robust systems and controls for financial information.

Specific Duties

  • Review and maintain the Balance Sheet.
  • Ensure the accuracy of the chart of accounts.
  • Guarantee compliance with GAAP and tax reporting requirements.
  • Advise management on the financial implications of business decisions.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to enhance financial performance.
  • Establish effective internal controls in accordance with regulatory standards.
  • Recruit, train, and motivate accounting personnel.
  • Ensure credit policies are effectively implemented.
  • Accurately capture and record capital expenditures.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be a dynamic, detail-oriented leader with a strong sense of urgency and a commitment to team success. Key qualifications include:

  • A Bachelor's degree and a minimum of five to seven years in senior accounting or finance roles.
  • Proficiency in understanding financial drivers, overseeing GAAP compliance, and managing external audits.
  • Experience in budget management and financial reporting.
  • Familiarity with organizations that have external debt facilities is advantageous.
  • Experience with financial ERP systems and M&A processes is a plus.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and intellectual curiosity.
  • Ability to balance short-term objectives with long-term strategic goals.
  • Comfort in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • CPA or CMA designation is preferred.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean record is required.

  • Ability to lift or carry up to 20 pounds occasionally.
