Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Sr. Casino Accounting Manager to join our team at SAHARA Las Vegas. The successful candidate will oversee property accounting functions, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This leadership role requires exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Responsibilities- Supervise property accounting functions, including gaming revenue accounting and auditing
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including Gaming Control Board and Federal regulations
- Plan and monitor the Gaming Revenue department's general accounting, internal controls, statistical reporting, daily distribution of non-gaming and casino performance, and reconciliations
- Review and approve general ledger journal entries prepared by staff, direct the reconciliation of general ledger accounts, and prepare them for review by management
- Prepare and analyze daily paperwork and reports; develop and implement recommendations for improved efficiency
- Ensure the highest possible standards of guest service are provided and listen to and respond to external and internal guest concerns and questions
- Hire, train, schedule, supervise, perform evaluations, establish goals and objectives of accounting staff
- Responsible for monthly and annual processes to close the general ledger and generate financial reports
- Work with all levels of management, including executives, and consult with key business stakeholders
- Collaborate with internal audit, internal compliance, and independent public accountants and various regulatory agencies, including the Nevada Gaming Control Board and Internal Revenue Service
- Evaluate processes to improve efficiency, resulting in cost savings and greater accuracy
- Responsible for all tax filings with regulatory agencies
- Ensure adequate coverage for the Revenue Accounting teams; oversee the supervision of staff, including work allocation, scheduling, training, and problem resolution
- Contribute to departmental effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range issues and goals, recommending courses of action, and implementing directives
- Maintain a system of internal controls for all departments and administrative controls related to team members, policies, and procedures, NRS, Regulations, MICS, and ICS
- Participate in the month-end process of reviewing preliminary financial statements with department heads and resolve any unknown or unexplained items
- Liaison with IT to resolve system problems related to systems used by the department
- Coordinate activities with external and internal auditors
- Conduct internal audits of data to ensure accuracy and integrity
- Establish, or recommend to management, major financial objectives and policies for the casino
- Keep leadership and other departments informed of status of activities and of significant events and problems
- Improve staff effectiveness by coaching, counseling, training, and recommending disciplinary action for team members
- Coordinate technology needs of the office; ensure staff is fully trained on systems, policies, and procedures
- Communicate with and represent the organization to external agencies, consultants, and other organizations and individuals
- Conduct annual department evaluation and assessments of department components and staff according to established policies, procedures, and regulations for the accounting team
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field from a four-year college or university or four to six years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum two years of supervisory experience
- Knowledge and ability to interpret and evaluate internal controls and extensive experience in writing financial and internal control procedures
- Demonstrated ability to apply analytical reviews and ability to interpret significant data relationships
- Previous gaming industry (Resort/Casino) accounting and supervision experience preferred
- Previous experience with Konami and Infinium or related Accounting system preferred
- Excellent computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and knowledge of front-of-house casino operations as related to accounting
- Excellent communication skills, customer service, and team-oriented, self-starter, and professional maturity
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, and exhibit composure and professionalism while under pressure
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while meeting constant deadlines and maintaining strong attention to details
- Must have the ability to effectively communicate in English, both written and verbal forms
- A professional demeanor and attire must be maintained at all times
- Must have strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently with little to no supervision
- Must be able to perform in a team environment
- Possess the ability to motivate and maintain effective working relationships across all levels of staff and leadership
- Previous experience in a high-end luxury Gaming or Hospitality environment desired
- Must have exceptional time management skills
- A valid Nevada Gaming License is required and must be obtained before entering this position
- Must be 21 years of age or older
