Educational Support Specialist

This role is located at a Department of Defense Education Activity school, providing educational support to students. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in education and be able to work effectively with children and staff.

- Produce materials to display educational objectives to the class, utilizing creative and engaging methods.
- Apply assistive technology for recording student data, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Requirement.
- Proof of U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Direct deposit of pay is mandatory.
- A one-year trial or probationary period may be required.
- Appointment is subject to a suitability/fitness determination, as determined by a background investigation.
- This position requires a Tier 1 (T1) investigation with Childcare Checks, as it involves interaction with children and youth under the age of 18.
To qualify, applicants must meet the education and/or experience requirements outlined below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work through National Service programs and other organizations.
Applicants must have at least one year of experience that prepared them to perform the duties of an Educational Support Specialist. General experience is defined as progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates the ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed for this role.
Education may be substituted for general experience, with 2 years (60 semester hours) of education above high school qualifying the applicant. A combination of education and general experience may also be used to qualify, as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
Applicants will be evaluated on their level of competency in the following areas: Communications and Media, Standards, and Teaching Others.
EducationForeign education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education to be credited towards qualifications. Applicants must provide transcripts from schools accredited by such institutions.
