About the Job

The Director of Operational Risk will play a critical role in leading our Operational Risk Management (ORM) Program, ensuring the overall quality of risk management across the Bank. This includes developing and implementing strategies to identify, assess, and mitigate operational risks, as well as promoting a culture of risk awareness throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the ORM Program, developing and implementing strategies to identify, assess, and mitigate operational risks.
  • Work closely with business leaders, compliance partners, and Internal Audit to develop strategies and approaches for operational risk/control weakness identification.
  • Coordinate operational risk management activities with functional risk areas, provide risk advisory, and drive consistency in risk ratings.
  • Support Risk Management leadership in implementing and educating the organization on policies, standards, guidelines, tools, and procedures.
  • Manage the requisite infrastructure to support risk identification needs.
  • Support Risk Management leadership in driving ORM Program reports and presentations to the Operational Risk Committee, Executive Risk Committee, and/or Board Risk Committee.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Extensive financial services experience with at least 8-10 years of related experience in risk management, compliance management, audit, or process improvement.
  • Significant knowledge of operational risk management concepts and practices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective organization, critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Compensation:

At Sandy Spring Bank, compensation is one part of our total rewards package. Compensation within the range will depend on your skills, qualifications, education, experience, and location. Additionally, full-time and part-time positions may be eligible to participate in department or company-wide incentive plans.

Salary Range: USD $120,000.00 - USD $183,750.00 /Yr.
