Position OverviewThe Global Experience Design team at McDonald's plays a crucial role within the Customer Experience team (MCX), focusing on user-centered design to deliver a cohesive and meaningful experience for customers and restaurant teams worldwide. We are looking for a design leader to contribute to our Experience Design team, specifically within the Design Systems team.
This role requires proven expertise in developing, maintaining, and innovating a global, multi-channel design system. The Senior Experience Design Lead will significantly influence the future direction of McDonald's design system. The ideal candidate should be comfortable navigating ambiguity, possess a passion for design, and demonstrate initiative with minimal guidance.
Key Responsibilities:
Your meticulous attention to detail, exceptional design skills, and ability to structure complex challenges are vital. You thrive in hands-on, immersive environments and actively seek opportunities for improvement.
- Maintain a strong customer focus throughout the product lifecycle.
- Ensure design solutions are user-centric while aligning with business objectives.
- Advance the design system by researching and implementing best practices, informed by market analysis, customer feedback, metrics, and usability findings.
- Collaborate closely with product management and engineering teams to foster innovation and efficiency.
- Lead the design system team in developing and sustaining a comprehensive design language and component library.
- Establish and enforce design standards, guidelines, and best practices to ensure a unified user experience across all products and platforms.
- Facilitate the design review process and finalize design requirements.
- Encourage collaboration across teams, not only gathering business requirements but also assisting in their definition.
- Promote the value of the design system organization-wide, highlighting its benefits in terms of efficiency, consistency, and quality of user experience.
- Apply best practices in Accessibility (WCAG).
- 8 years of experience in user-centered experience design, particularly in design systems.
- Bachelor's degree in design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or equivalent professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in managing a team of designers.
- A strong portfolio showcasing creative design thinking and a deep understanding of Human-Centered Design and design systems.
- Familiarity with technical considerations across various design platforms.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and persuasion skills, with a proven track record of gaining support for innovative strategic visions.
- Experience delivering designs and services on a global scale.
- A passion for and knowledge of emerging design trends.
