Job Overview

Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Work Schedule: 40 hours per week, with 8-hour shifts rotating every third weekend.

  • Evening Shift: 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM (2 positions available)
  • Overnight Shift: 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM (2 positions available)

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of general clerical experience.
    • Note: College education may substitute for general experience at a rate of fifteen (15) semester hours equating to six (6) months of experience.
  • Preferred: Current EKG monitoring certification and/or telemetry experience.
  • Preferred: Previous clerical experience in an inpatient acute care hospital setting.
  • Special Requirement: If not certified upon hire, EKG monitoring certification must be obtained within six (6) months of employment to maintain position.
  • Familiarity with office systems and procedures, including effective telephone communication and filing practices.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; proficiency in arithmetic calculations.
  • Basic interpersonal skills; capability to perform a comprehensive range of clerical tasks.
  • Adept at operating office equipment, which may include word processors, computer terminals, or other automated systems; ability to organize and prioritize workflow.
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret complex instructions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor EKG devices and promptly report any irregularities to the appropriate medical personnel.
  • Facilitate patient admissions by greeting and receiving new patients; gather necessary patient information and prepare/review patient charts upon admission.
  • Inform nursing staff and physicians regarding patient admissions or the return of surgical patients.
  • Engage with patients' family members to assist them in adhering to admission and discharge protocols, providing accurate information as needed.
  • Transcribe physician orders and manage the processing/scheduling of diagnostic and therapeutic tests and procedures.
  • Notify staff of new orders and requests for ancillary and support services.
