Position Overview:
The Power Plant Operator is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Co-Generation Plant, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with established procedures. This role involves significant independent judgment and collaboration with mechanical and electrical technicians.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain all functions of the Co-Generation Plant.
  • Develop, schedule, and implement preventative maintenance and testing protocols.
  • Collaborate with technicians for equipment maintenance and repairs.
  • Conduct inspections and minor overhauls, providing recommendations for upgrades.
  • Respond to emergency situations related to mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Ensure environmental compliance for the Co-Generation Plant and its equipment.
  • Maintain accurate logs and records of operational parameters.
  • Supervise contractors during emergency or project scenarios.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Physical Plant.

This is a full-time position with a 40-hour work week. The role will transition to the night shift following a training period. HVCC offers a competitive benefits package, including health insurance, a generous leave policy, and tuition waivers for employees and their families.

Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must possess four (4) years of experience in commercial, industrial, or institutional facility operations, along with an Associate's Degree in a related field; or eight (8) years of experience with a certificate from a recognized Trade School or relevant military experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of load bank testing, Diesel and Natural Gas Engine Generator sets, and strong computer skills are preferred.
