Professional Education Consultant

As a Professional Education Consultant at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and evaluating professional nursing education and development programs. Your expertise will be instrumental in aligning nursing education, professional development, and practice with strategic organizational goals and objectives. You will work closely with senior executives and nursing executives to assess, evaluate, maintain, improve, and develop professional nursing practices. Your work will focus on disseminating evidence-based practice and managing best practice models to improve nursing and organizational performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement short, intermediate, and long-range education and development plans to support current and future nursing resource needs and organizational goals.
- Manage and develop strategic plans for professional nursing education, development, and learning programs, including standards and objectives related to enhancing professional practice and meeting business needs.
- Design, develop, implement, and evaluate collaborative and innovative education and continuous learning strategies and programs for regional nursing personnel.
- Assess priority education and professional development needs identified by senior nursing and other executives, as well as external agencies, partners, and authorities.
- Provide linkage between identified educational needs and current and planned programs offered by internal and external sources and partners.
- Offer consultative services and act as an expert resource to external and internal professional partners and stakeholders in the areas of professional nursing education and development program design, development, improvement, and evaluation.
- Develop and maintain external contractual partnerships with private and public sector organizations, academic institutions, and learning vendors to establish and maintain a flexible and competent nursing workforce.
- Coordinate curricula related to specialty programs and cross-training.
- Establish and evaluate education and development and advanced degree and learning programs.
- Communicate to regional leadership the goals, objectives, and planned outcomes of professional nursing education program development.
- Represent regional education and development programs to internal and external groups, governmental agencies, authorities, and schools and universities.
Experience
- Minimum two years of experience in complex curriculum design, development, and evaluation, including the demonstrated ability to independently utilize skills and knowledge in statistical analysis, outcome measurement, educational program evaluation, and qualitative and quantitative research.
- Minimum three years of experience in nursing research, process improvement, clinical management, or other closely related healthcare fields.
- Masters degree in nursing, education, or healthcare-related field required.
- Registered Nurse License (California)
- Demonstrated ability to utilize communication, consultation, facilitation, influencing, negotiation, and interpersonal skills on an expert level with a variety of management and other personnel, including external partners and groups.
- Ability to utilize multiple software programs, video conferencing, interactive media, and interactive distance learning and website and network materials and resources.
- Travel required approximately 35 percent of the time.
- Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
