Role Summary:
As a Juvenile Justice Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the lives of youth involved in the justice system. You will collaborate with a team of professionals committed to supporting young individuals and their families.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as a liaison to the Office of Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention, overseeing the administration of the Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention Act (JJDPA) and managing federal title II formula grants.
  • Facilitate a collaborative learning environment that fosters staff development and focuses on interventions that promote positive behavioral changes among justice-involved youth.
  • Serve as the PREA compliance manager for the Juvenile Division, ensuring adherence to federal PREA standards through the collection and analysis of monthly incident statistics.
  • Oversee the eligibility process for youth accessing psychiatric residential facilities, representing the department on inter-agency review teams and managing necessary authorizations.
  • Coordinate meetings, set agendas, and act as a liaison among various agencies and staff involved in program development and service delivery.
  • Support the director with agency database functions to ensure data integrity, including the collection, analysis, and reporting of relevant data.
  • Organize training events and participate in various workgroups, undertaking special projects as required to assist the department in achieving its objectives.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Human Services or a related field.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Familiarity with federal and state laws, rules, and regulations related to juvenile justice.
  • Understanding of department policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices in juvenile justice and adolescent development, including the impact of trauma on behavior.
  • Proficiency in program development principles and implementation science.
Required Abilities:
  • Ability to interpret agency goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
  • Competence in presenting and promoting departmental priorities and services.
  • Skills in gathering, interpreting, and utilizing information related to assigned activities.
  • Capability to assess program effectiveness and recommend improvements.
  • Experience in training and guiding staff and service users.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and the public.
