Job Summary

Helix Human Services Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate School Adjustment Counselor to join our team at Mill Pond School Berkshire Campus. As a key member of our leadership team, the successful candidate will provide critical support to students with social-emotional and behavioral challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Individual Counseling Sessions: Meet with students for pre-scheduled or as-needed counseling sessions to address their unique needs and concerns.
  • Small Group Social Skills Lessons: Plan and facilitate small group social skills lessons in each class to promote positive relationships and behaviors.
  • Crisis Evaluation and Management: Respond to and manage crisis situations in a trauma-informed and supportive manner.
  • Collaboration and Referral: Work closely with families, teachers, and other professionals to identify and refer students to outside service providers when necessary.
  • IEP Goal Development: Contribute to the development of social, emotional, and behavioral IEP goals to support student success.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree: Possess a Master's degree in a relevant field, such as social work or counseling.
  • Experience: Have a minimum of three years of experience working with students with social-emotional and behavioral challenges.
  • Reliable Transportation: Possess reliable transportation and a current valid driver's license.
  • Collaborative Skills: Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work cooperatively with DCF and other agencies.
  • Organizational Skills: Possess good organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple situations simultaneously.
