Counselor Technician

Job Summary:
WestCare Foundation is seeking a Counselor Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing general client supervision, milieu management, and general program operation. This is a full-time position that requires a high school diploma and one year of experience in a residential social service setting.
Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure the security of the facility through continuous monitoring of the grounds and facility.
• Provide general client supervision in daily living activities and general program operation.
• Make copies of necessary program paperwork and place documentation in client files.
• Ensure all scheduled activities occur at the specified time and prepare client activity reports as requested.
• Conduct medication calls at specified timeframes and according to policy.
• Ensure assignments given to residents are completed and that residents comply with program rules.
• Monitor trip logs and conduct visual contact searches to ensure residents returning to the facility are not under the influence of any substance.
• Maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the facility.
Requirements:
• One year of experience in a residential social service setting providing services to the criminal justice/substance abusing population.
• Basic computer skills and good documentation skills.
• Ability to multi-task and excellent communication skills (written and oral).
• High School Diploma required, graduation from an accredited four-year college with a degree in Psychology, Social Work, Rehabilitation Counseling, or a related field is preferred.
Working Conditions:
Work is primarily performed in an office or in a residential/outpatient treatment setting. Some outdoor activities may be required. UA testing of clients is required, and the ability to de-escalate situations in the program is necessary.

As mandated by the Fresno County Health Department, employees who work at designated sites must have a current influenza vaccine, unless a medical and/or religious exemption is requested and approved. Additionally, as mandated by the State of California, employees who work at Residential, Outpatient, Recovery Residence, provide Mental Health Services, Administrative Staff, or Transitional Living Facilities must be fully vaccinated and have received a booster for the COVID-19 virus. Employees that have requested a Medical or Religious Exemption, which has been approved by Human Resources, will be required to test for the virus weekly. CPR Certification, First Aid Certification, and an annual Tuberculosis test are also required.
