Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Head of IT Infrastructure and Business Intelligence at Sperry Rail Service will be responsible for steering the design, execution, and oversight of data-centric insights and reporting mechanisms. This role encompasses strategic planning, implementation, and management of all IT systems and data analytics capabilities to align with organizational objectives, enhance operational efficiency, and safeguard company data. The position will play a pivotal role in shaping and advancing the long-term vision of the organization regarding data management, IT infrastructure, and comprehensive cybersecurity measures. Furthermore, the Head will evaluate talent and tools necessary to expand the IT BI function for future scalability.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Reporting and Analysis:
  • Formulate, execute, and sustain standard and customized reports to bolster essential business operations and decision-making processes.
  • Create and present insightful dashboards and visualizations to stakeholders, ensuring data precision and reliability.
  • Concentrate on operational metrics, including tracking testing locations, dates, technologies utilized, identified defects, and their classifications and locations.
  • Support various levels of decision-making, from contract discussions to profit and loss analysis at customer and departmental levels.
Customer Portal Management:
  • Oversee the establishment, enhancement, and upkeep of customer portals for real-time data access and reporting.
  • Guarantee portals are user-friendly, secure, and equipped with necessary functionalities to fulfill customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with IT and customer service teams to refine portal features based on user feedback.
IT Infrastructure Oversight:
  • Direct and manage the architecture, deployment, and maintenance of the organization's IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, storage, and databases.
  • Ensure optimal availability and dependability of all IT systems to support business functions.
  • Develop and enforce IT policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance infrastructure performance and security.
Cybersecurity Leadership:
  • Guide the formulation and execution of the company's cybersecurity strategy, ensuring the safeguarding of information assets against potential threats.
  • Implement and monitor security protocols for data protection, vulnerability management, and incident response.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant security standards, regulations, and industry best practices.
Cloud Strategy Management:
  • Lead and manage the organization's cloud migration strategy, encompassing planning, execution, and post-migration optimization.
  • Assess and select suitable cloud service providers and solutions that align with the organization's requirements.
  • Facilitate a seamless transition of infrastructure and applications to the cloud while minimizing disruptions.
Financial Reporting:
  • Configure and automate data extraction from the ERP system for comprehensive financial reporting.
  • Develop financial models and reports to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Integrate financial metrics with operational dimensions and ensure accurate financial documentation linked to customers and test units.
Logistics and Operational Reporting:
  • Create and sustain logistics reports for managing a distributed field service workforce.
  • Analyze logistics data to optimize field operations, reduce expenses, and enhance service delivery.
  • Collaborate with operations and logistics teams to implement data-driven operational enhancements.
Development and Maintenance of Business Utilities:
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of core business utilities, including proprietary billing and CRM systems, time clock simulators, and multiple customer web portals.
  • Ensure these utilities are reliable, efficient, and effectively support business operations.
  • Manage integration components with systems for seamless operation.
Data Management and Governance:
  • Establish and enforce data governance policies and procedures to ensure data quality and compliance.
  • Manage data warehousing and ensure efficient data storage and retrieval processes.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and technologies to continuously enhance BI capabilities.
Team Leadership and Development:
  • Lead and mentor a team of IT infrastructure professionals, business intelligence analysts, developers, and data specialists.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture.
  • Develop and manage the IT BI department's budget and resources.
Resource Assessment and Strategic Planning:
  • Conduct ongoing evaluations of resources in both talent and tools to scale the IT BI function for future growth.
  • Identify and implement new BI tools and technologies to enhance reporting capabilities.
  • Ensure the BI team is equipped with the necessary skills and resources to meet evolving business needs.
Nontraditional BI Responsibilities:
  • Manage the development and maintenance of proprietary business utilities, including customer billing and CRM systems.
  • Oversee the creation and support of operational support tools for various teams.
