Paving Superintendent Job Description

At Allan Myers, we are seeking a highly skilled Paving Superintendent to lead our team of professionals in building innovative heavy civil projects. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing milling and paving operations, ensuring high-quality results, and maintaining a safe working environment.



Responsibilities

  • Plan and organize work to maximize crew productivity, establishing work plans and staffing plans for each project phase.
  • Supervise field managers, mentoring and coaching them in leading their crews, and maximizing equipment utilization levels.
  • Review job costs with project managers and field managers, implementing adjustments as needed, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
  • Coordinate with field managers, other superintendents, and customers to implement successful project plans, maintaining professional relationships with the owner, engineer, and other construction team members.
  • Inspect construction work to ensure quality requirements and standards are met, and manage coordination with asphalt plants, trucking dispatchers, and MOT teams.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required (equivalent work experience will be considered).
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred (continuing education in construction highly desirable).
  • Minimum 6 years of milling and paving experience with at least 2 years of superintendent experience required.
  • OSHA 30 hour certification required (those not having this credential must certify or be enrolled in a certification course within 6 months of hire/promotion).
  • Valid driver's license required.
