We are seeking a highly skilled Mortgage Consultant to join our team at Michigan Schools and Government Credit Union. As a Mortgage Consultant, you will be responsible for originating first mortgages, conducting pre-qualification interviews, preparing loan application packages, and communicating policies for extension of credit in accordance with our guidelines.
Key Responsibilities- Implement effective strategies to ensure members have a positive experience with our credit union and our products and services.
- Process new loan applications and perform loan origination activities, adhering to federal and state regulations, secondary market requirements, and our policies and procedures.
- Focus on consultative phone selling, prospecting, and member service, utilizing various lead sources to maximize lead pull-through to closing.
- Use a consultative approach to identify and meet member needs, both perceived and unperceived, and offer effective solutions for member needs and cross-sell our products and services.
- Cultivate and maintain external referral sources by attending loan closings, networking events, cold calling, follow-up, and referrals to generate business and first mortgage purchases.
- Travel throughout our branch network to strengthen relationships and collaborate with assigned branch teams to increase branch referrals and drive mortgage loan growth.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Either 1 year of mortgage origination experience, 2 years of mortgage banking experience or relevant lending experience in other roles, a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Accounting, or Finance, or 3 years of analytical finance experience.
- Nationwide Multistate Licensing System & Registry (NMLS) licensure is highly preferred.
- Competitive salaries, starting at $19.25 per hour.

- Required to travel throughout MSGCU's service area as business needs require.
- Exposed to potentially hazardous conditions, such as robbery, with detailed instructions and security procedures provided annually to minimize risk.
