Your Impact

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and define the scope of work based on existing conditions, plans, and specifications throughout all design and construction phases.
  • Conduct thorough quantity take-offs for diverse construction systems and materials.
  • Gather necessary labor rates, taxes, and insurance requirements for effective estimate formulation.
  • Create contractor-style construction cost estimates and prepare the basis of estimates as directed by the Estimating Manager.
  • Guarantee that all estimates are precise and account for all potential risk factors.
  • Review designs and specifications for cost efficiency and propose suitable alternatives.
  • Generate detailed, market-related cost estimates for scope changes, project delays, and other assigned tasks.
  • Support Resident Engineers and Project Managers in change analysis and the development or validation of control budgets.
  • Maintain awareness of all contract issues and project stakeholders.
  • Engage in negotiations with clients and contractors to address contract modifications and claims.
  • Participate in reconciliations with clients or third parties.
  • Perform additional duties and projects as required.

Who You Are

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Over 10 years of relevant experience in transit cost estimation, including facilities, systems, and infrastructure.
  • Experience in architectural and MEP estimation is advantageous.
  • More than 10 years of experience in architectural/heavy civil/structural/utility elements for infrastructure and transportation projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g., Civil Engineering), Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in managing complex, multi-year, multi-million dollar projects and programs.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing conceptual through bid document estimates using spreadsheet software, HCSS Heavy Bid, Sage Timberline, or similar applications.
  • Strong proficiency in On-Screen Takeoff or BlueBeam software and MS Office applications.
  • Able to show a track record of increasing responsibility in estimation, working effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Exhibit responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company resources and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies.
  • Proven commitment to workplace safety and compliance with WSP's health, safety, and drug/alcohol policies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with HCSS HeavyBid estimating software.
  • Estimating certification from AACEI or ASPE.
