Job Summary

The Mental Health Technician will work under the direction of the Registered Nurse and share responsibility for providing and maintaining a therapeutic milieu. This role involves basic psychiatric nursing-related techniques and supervised therapeutic activities, in accordance with relevant standards and regulations. The successful candidate will also assist the treatment team with teaching and orienting new staff, acting as a Preceptor, and performing other interventions in support of discharge planning and case management activities.

Responsibilities
  • Provide basic psychiatric nursing-related techniques and supervised therapeutic activities
  • Assist the treatment team with teaching and orienting new staff
  • Act as a Preceptor and perform other interventions in support of discharge planning and case management activities
  • Work under the direction of the Registered Nurse and contribute to a therapeutic milieu
Requirements
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification within 30 days of employment start date
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification within 90 days of employment start date
  • High School Graduate or equivalent
