The Sales Associate will play a key role in assisting customers with purchasing merchandise at McCoy's Building Supply. This position requires excellent customer service skills, good verbal communication skills, and the ability to operate available equipment such as cash registers and scanners.
Key Responsibilities- Customer Interaction: Greet and interact with customers, consult with them to understand their needs and preferences related to available merchandise.
- Product Knowledge: Demonstrate and explain available merchandise, selecting and suggesting options suitable for the customer's needs.
- Sales and Service: Emphasize product features, quote prices and credit terms, and prepare sales orders.
- Inventory Management: Retrieve desired merchandise from sales floor and/or yard, place special orders where appropriate and required.
- Customer Relationship Building: Enter new customer data and other sales data for current customers into a computer database.
- Problem Resolution: Assist customers in resolving complaints, including escalating them to management when appropriate.
- Operational Tasks: Operate the cash register accurately, process returns and exchanges according to store policy, and assist with stocking and restocking products.
- Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Experience: Successful completion of on-the-job training, completing levels 1 and 2 of the positional training offered.
- Skills: Excellent customer service skills, good verbal communication skills, basic mathematical skills, and basic and intermediate knowledge of building products and local building codes.
- Physical Demands: Prolonged periods of standing and working on the computer or related equipment, ability to lift up to 30 pounds at times, and occasionally lift/move up to 80 pounds.
- Work Schedule: May need to work overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays.
