Job Title: Medical Lab Scientist I

Job Overview

The role of a Medical Lab Scientist I encompasses various responsibilities within the medical laboratory field, including the functions of a medical technologist or clinical laboratory scientist. This position is vital for ensuring the quality and accuracy of laboratory testing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess the suitability of specimens for testing based on established guidelines.
  • Conduct both routine and advanced technical procedures in accordance with departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Oversee, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments to guarantee optimal performance.
  • Exhibit proficiency in making technical decisions related to testing and resolving issues.
  • Prepare, evaluate, and test new reagents or controls to maintain testing standards.
  • Deliver precise and timely test results to support quality patient care.
  • Document and perform preventive maintenance and quality control checks.
  • Manage and replenish laboratory supplies as needed.
  • Assist in specimen processing when required.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by adhering to safety protocols and using appropriate personal protective equipment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
  • 0-2 years of experience in clinical laboratory testing.
  • State Medical Technologist license (if applicable).
  • ASCP or AMT certification (if applicable).
  • Proficient in computer usage.
  • Familiarity with laboratory information systems is advantageous.
  • Ability to pass a standardized color vision screening.

Position Type: This is a contract role.

Work Environment: This position requires full on-site attendance.
