The Lead Construction Project Manager will be responsible for supervising the designated project personnel and collaborating with service consultants to guarantee that the project adheres to the established plans, specifications, contractual obligations, and client expectations. This role encompasses comprehensive construction management throughout all project stages, including procurement, bidding, pre-construction, construction, commissioning, start-up, and project closure, while also contributing to the identification of new business prospects.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with clients, oversight representatives, and regulatory bodies for both business development and project execution.
- Make informed decisions and recommendations to enhance corporate-client relationships and the profitability of managed projects.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities related to specific clients or geographical regions.
- Establish and maintain communication with clients, consultants, and contractors to facilitate construction processes.
- Ensure compliance with all client, company, and project policies, procedures, and standards.
- Achieve project objectives and performance metrics within the framework of client policies.
- Provide leadership and direction for all activities related to construction management, contract administration, planning, execution, contractor scheduling, change order management, and quality assurance.
- Monitor project progress to ensure adherence to schedules and budgets.
- Assess contractor cost proposals and prepare preliminary cost estimates.
- Coordinate and supervise the activities of all company and consultant personnel on assigned projects.
- Oversee daily operations of support and professional construction management staff.
- Authorize and approve purchase requisitions and change requests within designated authority.
- Implement and uphold the company safety program, ensuring compliance with safe work practices.
- Participate in industry networking events.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (civil, mechanical, or electrical), construction management, or a related field.
- A minimum of 12 years of experience in managing municipal water and/or wastewater infrastructure projects, including treatment facilities, pump stations, pipelines, and tunnels.
- At least 8 years of management experience, encompassing client interaction, marketing, business development, project delivery, and staff oversight.
- CCM or PMP certification is required; however, candidates willing to obtain certification within 12 months will be considered.
- Comprehensive knowledge of construction aspects, including technology, equipment, methods, union jurisdiction, and labor agreements.
- In-depth understanding of corporate and industry practices and their implications on project activities.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, organizational, supervisory, and planning skills.
- Ability to apply innovative management techniques to enhance employee performance.
- Strong business acumen and project profit/loss experience.
