Job Summary:

Vassar Brothers Medical Center is seeking a skilled Respiratory Care Technician to join our team. As a Respiratory Care Technician, you will provide technical and supportive respiratory services under the supervision of a licensed respiratory therapist.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide routine respiratory care and exhibit age-specific competencies in patient care.
  • Follow policy and procedure for assigned patient care activities, including unit-specific equipment and standards.
  • Enter accurate and timely data into the computer system as applicable.
  • Assist with care and maintenance of departmental equipment, including cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing according to departmental, hospital, and infection control policies and procedures.
  • Respond to emergency codes/situations immediately and ensure the adequate maintenance of ventilation during cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) by performing in a calm and professional manner.
  • May perform additional tasks at the discretion of an RT upon the completion of validated competency, including providing patient education materials, assisting with patient-focused education, and assisting with routine tracheostomy care.
  • Maintain and model Nuvance Health values.
  • Demonstrate regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.

  • Interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team player.
