Job Title: Director Reliability Engineering

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Director of Reliability Engineering to join our team at EdgeCore Digital Infrastructure. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and maintainability of our data centers. Your expertise will be essential in driving operational excellence and championing quality and reliability across our infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with design, construction, and operations teams to ensure the reliability and maintainability of new and existing installations.
  • Review equipment submissions and commissioning plans, attending factory witness testing to validate equipment functionality.
  • Oversee facility acceptance testing and system maintenance planning to ensure new data centers meet design intent and operational standards.
  • Design and optimize maintenance programs to enhance equipment operability, availability, and efficiency while minimizing costs.
  • Validate and audit operational procedures for critical equipment, ensuring adherence to best practices and compliance with policies.
  • Develop risk management and incident response plans, providing technical support during incidents or critical system failures.
  • Lead an operational excellence program focused on continuous improvement and policy adherence.
  • Perform root cause failure analysis and manage corrective action plans to drive continuous improvements in data center operations.
  • Support operational teams with expertise in system operation, maintenance techniques, and building design risks.
  • Analyze maintenance performance, trends, and operational history to inform decision-making and process improvements.
  • Manage system component upgrades to ensure reliability and avoid obsolescence.
  • Conduct life cycle costing and end-of-life analysis for equipment as needed.
  • Support performance excellence through audits and evaluations of operations teams and vendors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5-7 years of experience in data center engineering, design, or operations.
  • Strong understanding of design theory and experience with electrical and mechanical schematics.
  • Proven leadership skills, with the ability to influence and educate technical and non-technical teams.
  • Demonstrated history of ownership and commitment to operational excellence.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and compellingly.
  • High level of discretion, confidentiality, and judgment in handling sensitive matters.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects under pressure while maintaining a sense of urgency.
  • Strategic thinker with a strong sense of ownership in decision-making.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 25-50%, with flexibility as business needs evolve.

  • This is a full-time salaried position, including equity compensation and a performance-based annual bonus.
  • This is an on-site role.
  • Base salary range is $160,000-220,000, depending on experience.
