About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist to join our team at UVA Health Northern VA & Culpeper. As a key member of our radiology department, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and ensuring the highest quality diagnostic imaging services.

Job Summary

The MRI Technologist will work closely with radiologists and other staff members to prepare patients and operate magnetic resonance equipment to obtain diagnostic scans. This role requires a high degree of technical competency, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for MRI exams, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the process.
  • Operate magnetic resonance equipment to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
  • Position patients' body parts for imaging and set technical factors on the equipment to ensure optimal image quality.
  • Work under general supervision to perform a variety of exams and procedures according to departmental protocol and physician orders.
  • Ensure patient safety and comfort while in the radiology department.
  • Provide an atmosphere conducive to gaining patients' cooperation and confidence.
  • Utilize data received from patient satisfaction and practice performance results to identify opportunities for improvement and participate in the planning and improvement process.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Graduate of an accredited school for Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
  • 2 years of healthcare experience preferred.
  • ARRT or ARMRIT Registered in MRI, or eligible, with registry completion within 12 months of hire.
Working Conditions

This role requires standing for prolonged periods, frequent travel, and reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive). Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills are essential. Ability to lift/push/pull up to 100 lbs. May be exposed to radiation.
