About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled MRI Technologist to join our team at UVA Health Northern VA & Culpeper. As a key member of our radiology department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest level of patient care and satisfaction.

Job Summary

The MRI Technologist will work closely with radiologists and other staff members to prepare patients and operate magnetic resonance equipment to obtain diagnostic scans. This role requires a high degree of technical competency, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for MRI scans, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the process.
  • Operate magnetic resonance equipment, adjusting technical factors to ensure high-quality images for interpretation by radiologists.
  • Position patients' body parts for imaging, using a high degree of competency to ensure accurate and efficient procedures.
  • Work under general supervision, performing a variety of exams and procedures according to departmental protocol and physician orders.
  • Ensure patient safety and comfort while in the radiology department, explaining procedures and post-procedure orders to patients to gain cooperation and minimize anxiety.
  • Prioritize workflow in regard to patient condition, ensuring timely arrival and departure of patients.
  • Provide an atmosphere conducive to gaining patients' cooperation and confidence.
  • Utilize data received from patient satisfaction and practice performance results to identify opportunities for improvement and participate in the planning and improvement process.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required; graduate of an accredited school for Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
  • 2 years of healthcare experience preferred; refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details.
  • ARRT or ARMRIT Registered in MRI, or eligible; registry must be completed within 12 months of hire.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in verbal and written communications, ability to work in a stressful environment, and ability to multitask and proficient in MRI safety.
Physical Demands

This role requires standing for prolonged periods, frequent traveling, and reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive). Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills are necessary, as well as attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull up to 100 lbs. May be exposed to radiation.
