Walmart's Indirect Tax Team is seeking a Senior Manager to play a critical role in shaping the company's tax strategy. Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with the business to advise on sales tax treatment of new lines of revenue, providing clear communication and guidance to non-tax professionals.
- Work with the tax data and technology team to establish and execute on short- and long-term roadmaps, including automation around item classification and streamlining the omnichannel customer tax exemption shopping experience.
- Maintain internal controls over sales tax calculation, including collaborating with internal audit and presenting to external auditors.
- Implement process improvements to the current workflows of the team.
- Enforce KPIs to measure team effectiveness and business responsiveness.
- Conduct tax research and provide technical advice on multi-state issues around sales tax.
- Mentor and develop junior team members, providing ongoing feedback and identifying opportunities for growth.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in accounting or a related field; CPA, CMI-Sales Tax, or advanced degree in Taxation is a plus.
- 6+ years of experience in indirect tax, preferably with exposure to retail, big 4, or mid-tier firms.
- 3+ years in a leadership position.
- Experience in creating and executing standard operating procedures for sales tax operations in a cross-functional environment.
- Experience advising on sales and use tax implications of M&A transactions.
- Knowledgeable about SAP or similar ERP systems.
- Experience reviewing sales tax language in proposed legislation.
- Strong knowledge of sales and use tax, product tax, excise tax, transaction tax, gross receipts tax, and tax technical concepts.
- Proficiency in tax data analysis and leveraging data to optimize tax strategies.
- Experience working with multiple jurisdictions and navigating complex tax regulations.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
Walmart offers a competitive salary range of $90,000.00-$180,000.00, annual or quarterly performance bonuses, and additional compensation for certain positions, including stock. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health benefits, financial benefits, paid time off, and more.
