Adjunct Associate Professor of Coaching-Athletics

We are seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Associate Professor of Coaching-Athletics to join our team at San Joaquin Delta College. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching organized classes primarily in the athletics discipline(s) and will work under the general supervision of the Division Dean of Health & Fitness TrAC.
Key Responsibilities- Teaching and Instruction: Instruct courses in athletics in accordance with credit course outlines approved by the Board of Trustees.
- Coaching and Mentoring: Act as an assistant coach to assigned sport and assist head coach with sport-related coaching duties, including on-field coaching assignments, recruiting, scouting, fundraising, and public relations.
- Curriculum Development: Recommend equipment purchase and care, maintain expertise in current teaching methods, discipline knowledge, and discipline-specific technologies, and participate in the departmental process of curriculum review, modification, and assessment of student learning outcomes.
- Student Support: Assist students in achieving stated course objectives, evaluate student progress, and notify students in need of counseling services and/or tutorial assistance.
- Departmental Collaboration: Coordinate with other faculty in the selection of textbooks, audiovisual, and other instructional materials, and participate in departmental, divisional, and campus-wide activities and events as required.
- Professional Development: Plan and complete approved professional development flex activities each semester.
- Minimum Qualifications: Any bachelor's degree and two years of professional experience, or any associate degree and six years of professional experience.
- Sensitivity and Understanding: Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
- Teaching Experience: Experience instructing online classes, teaching postsecondary courses in athletics, and demonstrated expertise in coaching and teaching.
- Leadership and Collaboration: Demonstrated leadership, ability, and desire to stay current in the field, and demonstrated ability to work with business and industry to coordinate the educational program with the needs of the community.
