We are seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Associate Professor of Foreign Language to join our faculty at San Joaquin Delta College. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching organized classes in the foreign language discipline, with a primary focus on Japanese.
Key Responsibilities- Teaching and Curriculum Development: Instruct courses in Japanese in accordance with credit course outlines approved by the Board of Trustees.
- Expertise and Professional Development: Maintain expertise in current teaching methods, discipline knowledge, and discipline-specific technologies.
- Student Support and Evaluation: Assist students in achieving stated course objectives, evaluate student progress, and provide counseling services and/or tutorial assistance as needed.
- Departmental and Campus-Wide Participation: Participate in the departmental process of curriculum review, modification, and assessment of student learning outcomes.
- Collaboration and Communication: Coordinate with other faculty in the selection of textbooks, audiovisual, and other instructional materials, and complete various reporting procedures as required.
- Master's Degree: Master's in the foreign language being taught, or Bachelor's degree in the foreign language being taught, and Master's degree in another language or linguistics, or the equivalent.
- Cultural Competence: Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
- Teaching Experience: Experience in teaching postsecondary courses in Foreign Language, Japanese.
- Adaptability and Innovation: Demonstrated ability to adapt teaching strategies and techniques to different levels of students' ability and learning styles, and to use innovative and creative teaching techniques and equipment.
- Leadership and Collaboration: Demonstrated leadership in developing curriculum for discipline-specific courses and/or programs, and ability to work with business and industry to coordinate the educational program with community needs.
