Job Summary

The purpose of this position is to deliver rehabilitative services to adults experiencing mental health challenges. This role involves providing instruction, support, and assistance aimed at fostering psychiatric stability, enhancing social skills, facilitating personal and emotional adjustment, and promoting independent living capabilities. The practitioner operates under the guidance of the ARMHS Treatment Director and ARMHS Clinical Supervisor, delivering Adult Rehabilitative Mental Health Services (ARMHS) to clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Full-time practitioners typically bill an average of 28 hours weekly, while part-time practitioners bill 20 hours or fewer.
  • Deliver Adult Rehabilitative Mental Health Services in compliance with all DHS and Medicaid standards.
  • Instruct clients in skills that enhance mental health.
  • Collaborate with clients to establish recovery and rehabilitation goals.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all client records and interactions.
  • Coordinate care with county case managers, family members, and other professionals involved in the client's care.
  • Engage in professional meetings and workshops.
  • Foster therapeutic relationships with clients and team members.
  • Provide clinical interventions under the supervision of a licensed mental health professional.
  • Participate in supervision meetings and contribute to team decisions regarding client services.

Documentation

  • Maintain and update client files and treatment plans at least biannually, adhering to DHS documentation guidelines.
  • Complete precise case notes during sessions for each billable unit using the Simple Practice Medical Records system.

Community-Based Services

  • Possess a valid driver's license in good standing.
  • Maintain comprehensive auto insurance.
  • Utilize reliable transportation to provide services at various billable locations.
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with clients.

Public Relations and Networking

  • Uphold the agency's reputation and public image.
  • Develop and sustain positive relationships within the community.
  • Refer clients to additional professionals as necessary, with supervisor approval.
  • Stay informed about community resources and agency programs.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the DHS qualifications for a Mental Health Practitioner through one of the following pathways:

  • Completion of at least 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in behavioral sciences or related fields, along with 2,000 hours of supervised experience in service delivery to adults or children with mental health challenges.
  • A minimum of 4,000 hours of supervised work experience in similar settings.
  • 2,000 hours of supervised experience, with ongoing clinical supervision until the 4,000-hour requirement is fulfilled.
  • A graduate student internship or a bachelor's/master's degree in behavioral sciences, formally assigned for clinical training.
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in behavioral sciences or related fields, including a practicum or internship focused on direct interaction with served populations.

Additional skills include knowledge of mental illness effects, community resources, and the ability to work independently while managing stress. Proficiency in using Procentive for clinical documentation is required, along with effective communication skills and the ability to engage with diverse populations.
