Position Overview:

We are currently seeking a qualified and seasoned Fire Protection Engineer to enhance our design team. The successful candidate will take charge of the design, development, and execution of comprehensive fire protection systems specifically for data centers. This role demands a highly skilled engineer with extensive knowledge of fire protection engineering principles, regulatory standards, and industry best practices. A proven history in designing fire protection systems and possession of a Professional Engineering (PE) license is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct the design and engineering of fire protection systems, encompassing fire detection, suppression, and alarm systems, customized for data center requirements.
  • Create detailed engineering plans, specifications, and cost assessments for fire protection systems.
  • Ensure all designs adhere to applicable codes, standards, and regulations, including NFPA, ICC, and local building codes.
  • Oversee fire protection engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely execution and budget compliance.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, architects, and construction teams to seamlessly integrate fire protection systems into overall designs.
  • Conduct site evaluations and inspections to verify proper installation and functionality of fire protection systems.
  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and team members.
  • Stay informed about advancements in fire protection technology and industry trends.
  • Perform risk assessments and fire safety evaluations for data center facilities.
  • Prepare and review technical documentation, design reports, and regulatory submissions.
  • Ensure comprehensive documentation of all fire protection systems, meeting legal and safety standards.

Qualifications:

  • Active Professional Engineering (PE) license.
  • At least 10 years of experience in fire protection system design.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • In-depth knowledge of fire protection codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., NFPA, ICC).
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage priorities effectively.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, with a proven ability to lead projects and teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, fostering collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in fire protection engineering software and tools.
  • Self-driven, adaptable to ambiguity, and capable of leading and collaborating with others.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and strong written and verbal communication capabilities.
  • Proficient in MS Office, AutoCAD, BlueBeam, BIM, and Revit.
